Synopsis:
While being abroad, Maiju befriends Bao, who comes from a poor family. The rules of foreign countries and the miserable conditions of the destitute are present in the children’s friendship. The book deals with the theme also in the Finnish context, as Maiju tries to help her friend, but is faced with choices that are related to her social class when returning to Finland.
