El niño que quería dar abrazos (our translation: The boy who wanted to give hugs) tells Neo’s story. Neo likes many things: music, stories, playing with his friends… and above all, Neo loves hugs. But when adults start telling him “how a boy should behave”, Neo becomes very sad.
This picture book reflects on sensitivity, masculinity and the value of being oneself, to go beyond gender stereotypes that encourage boys to show bravery and strength but hide sensitivity and tenderness.
