One beautiful spring day, Arturo and Clementina, two young and beautiful pink turtles, met at the edge of a lake. They decided to get married that very afternoon… But Arturo soon decides to “tie his wife up” until she becomes just another object in his life. Until when?
This is a truly pioneering tale to deal with gender equality and violence against women that should be read in the context in which it was written, in the late 1970s. Some of the language used is capacitist or ableist (that is, showing discrimination or social prejudice against disabled people), so it would be interesting to address this issue in the classroom.
